Mission Statement
The Kayak Anglers Society of America works through its programs to increase access to and participation in kayak angling throughout the United States.
What we do
The Kayak Anglers Society of America seeks to increase participation in the sport of kayak fishing by:
- Developing and promoting competitive, charitable kayak angling programs such as the High School Kayak Fishing Series (HSKFS), the Collegiate Kayak Fishing Series (CKFS) and the Armed Forces Kayak Fishing Series (AFKFS).
- Assisting veterans’ rehabilitative programs by offering kayak fishing trips and adaptive paddling training for our nations wounded warriors;
- Designing kayak angling programs for and assisting in the procurement of kayak angling equipment for our nations youth organizations;
- Developing kayak launch facilities and paddling trails;
- Advocating for local, regional and national policies that expand kayak fishing access, conserve fisheries, and protect the environment.
Why KASA?
Recreational and sit-on-top kayaking continues to be the largest and fastest-growing segment of the water sports industry, and for good reason. Anyone can do it -- the young, the elderly, persons with disabilities ... everyone. With a modicum of guidance from trained and knowledgeable instructors, newcomers to the sport can achieve a level of independence and safety that will allow them to explore and engage the environment around them in ways that power boaters and shore-bound anglers can only imagine.
Above all, KASA seeks to conserve the natural resources in and around our nation's public waters and to expand access to those natural resources. As Aldo Leopold, the father of modern wildlife conservation famously said: "We can be ethical only in relation to something we can see, feel, understand, love, or otherwise have faith in."
