I have fished Lake Sommerville for both Stripers and White Bass. For Striper we used big silver or gold spoons, and for White Bass we used white jigs. . We have also fished with large minnows. We often trolled with the spoons around what locals call the Hump. Also, the whites will start to run up the creeks around February. If you ever want to go let me know and I would like to go with you. I just bought a kayak and am looking for someone to go with. I live in College Station and Sommervile is only 20 minutes from my house. The lake is fairly shallow and we cought most of our fish in 8 foot of water. I had a boat then and looked for the birds hitting the baitfish and we would rush over there and tear them up. I have only fished Conroe once and it was miserable, and I was in a boat. It was extremely rough. I have never been back since except to camp and jetski.
