Sailcats   (United States)
Modified By cteliczan on 6/13/2008 6:47:46 PM)

Salicats could be caught from a kayak just off shore in Apalachicola Bay FL when I was there last April for spring break. I drifted double rigged shrimp on painted jig heads with  plastic bodies (all yellow) along the bottom. I was using a light weight spinning reel with 8 pound test line. Nothing special. These fish have particularly long barbs which makes it a little more interesting in my 11' SIK. They were fun to catch. I released them only because I was on a check-out float and was not really expecting to catch anything.

Re: Sailcats   (United States)

I have never heard of sailcats, are they flying fish or a seperate species?? here in Texas we have a salt water fish called a gafftop, that has what looks like a sail.  Thanks            lockjaw_tx
